This monumental SilhouetteMask is entirely hand-stitched using traditional shoemaking techniques, a process that reflects deep craftsmanship and attention to detail. The stitching is done with waxed cotton thread, coated in natural beeswax for durability and strength—an authentic detail borrowed from classic shoemaking.

Made from premium vegetable-tanned leather—the same material used in artisanal shoes—this piece stands as a symbol of quality, tradition, and thoughtful design.

With its minimalist form, the mask invites open interpretation. Its quiet presence suggests human expression through contour, allowing each viewer to connect in their own way. It is both a sculptural artwork and a bold statement piece.

Over time, the leather will subtly evolve. Exposure to warmth, humidity, and light in a space will gradually shift the colour and surface, allowing the mask to develop a unique patina. Each piece becomes more characterful as it responds to its environment—gaining individuality over time.

Originally inspired by the expressive face masks Dirk created during the pandemic, this mask continues his exploration of form and emotion. With a background in shoe and bag making, Dirk brings the precision and soul of shoemaking into a refined, sculptural object.
