QUIET ATTEMPTS is a photographic work that exists on the edge of black and white, infused with a subtle warmth. This tonal choice reflects a state in-between — neither fully resolved nor completely neutral — mirroring the emotional landscape from which the work emerged.

The piece was created from a feeling many recognise: the pressure and uncertainty of contemporary life, the expectations we are asked to meet, and the performances we are required to deliver. Within this series, the human figure appears as a shape shifter — flexible, adaptive, constantly adjusting. Quietly negotiating the outside world, while carrying the recurring question: am I enough, or do I need to reshape myself to belong?

The image holds a sense of loneliness within a time of constant acceleration and change. It reflects my own experiences, translated into a visual narrative that remains restrained rather than expressive — a quiet attempt to stay present.

The photograph is printed on a rigid panel and framed in naturally tanned leather. The leather frame is hand-painted using a self-developed colouring technique. I chose leather deliberately: the stretched, tensioned material continues the physical language of the body seen in the image. The frame is not perfectly straight, yet it is held under tension — echoing the human condition it surrounds.

The work is designed to be wall-mounted and can be hung using the two fixing points on the back.
