This mask, crafted from premium chamois leather, originates from Dirk’s enduring fascination with the material since his youth. In an era of growing environmental challenges and global tensions, Dirk reflected on the role of art during crises. This led to the creation of masks that, while highly functional, embody flexibility and resilience—both in their form and their symbolic significance. Each piece is unique, hand-moulded with precision using Dirk’s expert shoemaking techniques, ensuring that every mask carries its own distinct character. However, as with any fine material, contact with water will forever alter its function, transforming the object from art into something more utilitarian.
